Life Lessons at Level 40

As I hit start on level 40 of the game of Life, I thought I’d note down some things that I’ve learnt along the way.

First thing is that your parents really were right about almost everything.

Along the way you’ll hear lots advice and at the time it may sound like it’s absolutely useless, but remember it because you never know when it might come in handy.

Until you have children you don’t understand what the word tired really means.

Children can teach you pretty much anything about anything you just have to be willing to listen and learn.

Life is too short for people who just want to take from you or for the small minded and pettiness that surrounds people like that.

If you look around you you’ll find beauty, happiness and kindness everywhere, just sometimes it’s filtered by shit tinted glasses that are hard to take off.

It’s ok to be unhappy and it’s ok to be miserable, as long as you don’t expect others to sympathise!

Depression and mental health issues ues are not dirty words, but you have to admit it yourself and you have to get help.

Sometimes, everything seems bleak and to be honest they probably are bleak, but the likelihood is they are going to get better you just have to have faith.

Conversations about money and politics have no place at the dinner table.

Like it or not, your life affects others and you will make friends along the the way.

You won’t be judged by your mistakes, but by the way you handle them.

Respect is earned and easy to lose.

You need to tell people to fuck off more (thanks Helen Mirren) .

You need to tell people you love them more.

Find someone special and fight like hell everyday to keep them.

Your parter is always right, until they are wrong. Then it is your fault they are wrong.

Find something you are passionate about and try to do it every day.

Bend your knees when you pick stuff up!

Finally, Bill and Ted were right about what makes life good, "be excellent to each other and party on dude’s!"
