What makes a good teacher? Should students can be allowed to grade their teachers?

A question that has become a very familiar around the education department is about what makes a good teacher. In my opinion, teachers should possess different characteristics than others. All teachers have their own strategies about how a teacher should teach. They all have their own ways about how to create a better environment for students to better learn in. A lot of time has been spent thinking about the art of teaching as a result of the ever changing of the profession. Teachers have to play different roles to meet the different needs of students.

Another point, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hardwork. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. Another one for being a good teacher is his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons and find different ways to encourage them.

But despite of all these characteristics on how to be a good teacher, should students can also be allowed to give their teachers grade? Students giving their teachers grade viewed as a way of improving both learning environment and teaching environment. The students must receive a quality education and take it upon themselves as their duty and right.

If students are allowed to grade their teachers, the efforts and performance of each teacher will be recognized. With this kind of evaluation, students satisfaction can be judged. The satisfaction will help the teachers who well-performed to continue in boosting themselves because of all the evaluations they will received from the students. While those teachers that the students didn’t satisfied on how their teach can focus on changing their strategies to improve themselves as well as their way of teachings.

Allowing students to grade their teachers would be useful for many reasons. It can help to improve the quality of teaching, and can also help involve students in their learning more.
