The first mile is the longest

I added my own twist to the popular saying “The last mile is the longest”. For a new runner, the first mile, or kilometer(or the first 300 feet or 100 meters, if your entire run is a mile / km:)) can be the longest. Have you felt that way, if you are just starting out or if you have been unable to run regularly?

How much do you resist running?

How conscious are you of how people might “see” you?

How out of shape do you think of yourself to be?

How are your surroundings?

I run often, but occasionally I still feel so much resistance within me. Here’s a litany of my excuses, once I already plan to go for a run:

Ok, well, I overcame all my internal resistance by repeating to myself how much fun it was the last time I ran, and how I could listen to my favorite playlists without interruption from work or other demands, at least while I am out running. And most important of all, maybe, just maybe, it will burn off some of the calories from the huge bagel I ate.
