Refreshed and Revitalised

Easy does it. One thing at a time. Prioritise.

My company branding — designed by myself.

Can you believe were basically halfway through the year? It feels like just yesterday that I officially started working for myself. It’s actually been about a year since I started plotting out what I actually wanted to do with my career and my life in general.

Have you ever been so busy that you can’t remember what you have done? I feel like this has been my life since I stopped bartending. But at least now it’s towards a better life, not just for myself, but for my greater contribution to humanity too. I have some really big plans that I am looking forward to presenting one day and in the meantime, I’m pumping all my energy into finding and mastering the tools I need to achieve the goal.

Jumping into freelance this year has been a rollercoaster of note. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been on the verge of collapse. From manic hyper focus, insomnia, and midnight panic attacks to imposter syndrome, self-sabotage, and self-loathing. I swear I’ve experienced the entire spectrum of my personality disorder. But through it all I think I can honestly say that I’ve never been more fulfilled.

In these past few months, I’ve learned so much. I’ve gained some certifications, set up multiple business entities and payment networks, and picked up a couple of clients. But what I am most grateful for is the opportunity to learn from everyone I’ve been in contact with. It’s humbling to know that there is so much knowledge out there in the experiences of others. And when you allow yourself past your ego, this wealth of information can keep you from making the mistakes that precede you.

It’s crazy to see what you’ve accomplished when you actually take stock of your achievements. We often don’t and it’s easy to feel stagnant. But every day that we are alive there are small glories to celebrate. One of the biggest learning experiences for me has been learning to curb my own enthusiasm. I am often guilty of taking on more than I am capable of. I suffer, mentally and physically as a result. But I suffer in vain, because all that is really needed to prevent this would be for me to realise my limitations and accept them. As much as I wish I were a cyborg, I’m not. And so, I have found the need to restructure my business model and my offering.

In compartmentalising my business ideas, I have found the calm that I have been missing. It allows the space to focus my attention on each individual piece and give it the energy it deserves. I read somewhere that multitasking is a myth, and that some people are just lucky enough to be able to do things in really quick succession. This could not hold more weight in my life. It’s something I’m learning, and I am by no means accustomed to it. But, easy does it. One thing at a time. Prioritise.

I’ve stripped down its content to be strictly informational. It will serve as a central node linking the rest of my ventures. The focus for my website is to introduce myself as a service provider and present the vision I have for my business and where I fit in a world that I would love to help create. It will also serve as a home base for noteworthy updates and news on any projects I work on. And obviously highlight my love for texture in design. Of course, a restructure calls for a rebrand, so there’s that too.
