To Quell A Revolution

Subtlety works best

It was birthed from the Earth,
and like a seed that germinates,
with much care and nurturing,
it blossomed into magnificence.

Yet this seed was not ordinary,
its kind never saw the light of day;
as such, it persevered
fighting against great odds.

the tale of its growth
brought people from near and far;
they heard of its tribulations
and how it came out
on top.

Like a virus that multiples,
its supporters grew and proliferated.

It soon came to have a banner
that many carried
with great pride.

The epic tale of an underdog
shaking the fabric of social norms,
challenging power and bureaucracies,
nothing seemed
out of reach.

How dare it
be so bold,
especially since
it was just a mere peasant
with no voice.

Yet this subaltern
believed in change,
and it was willing
to fight for it.

Soon enough
it became a symbol
that meant resistance
to all forms of hate.

Across the oceans
its banners were raised,
many marched
in its name.

Against oppression
and depravity,
they demanded for
a better day.

At first, it met much resistance
from the leaders that held
the keys to change.

So they attempted to
quell the protests
with nothing but
violent means.
